The Porch is one deck, one long view, and the people who matter most. We host micro-weddings, elopements, rehearsal dinners, showers, family dinners, reunions, and graduation parties. No minimums built for someone else's guest list, and one event per day, so the whole property is yours for the whole rental window.

What is included with every booking?

One flat venue rate covers the whole property. There are no per-head venue fees and no separate cleaning fee; the only variable on your quote is the add-ons you choose.

On site and included

  • The 1,300-square-foot raised cedar deck, open-air, seating up to 50.
  • String lighting over the full deck.
  • Electrical power for your caterer, music, or coffee urn.
  • Potable water.
  • A clean portable restroom, serviced before every event.
  • Draped canopy sections and mature tree cover for shade.
  • Access to the pond and its wooden dock for portraits and quiet moments.
  • Parking for 12 vehicles, steps from the deck.
  • Setup and teardown time inside your rental window.

Not on site, so you can plan for it

  • No commercial kitchen. Caterers work from the deck and their own equipment.
  • No indoor backup space. The Porch is an outdoor venue; tents can be rented for cool or wet dates.
  • No permanent indoor restroom and no bridal suite or getting-ready room.
  • No heaters included. Patio heaters are available through rental companies.
  • No venue Wi-Fi. Cell service is generally usable.
  • No alcohol. The Porch is an alcohol-free venue for guests, vendors, and toasts.

A decorating coordinator and photographer are available on site, along with portraits alongside the horses or goats and in the lavender field when it is in bloom. Tables, chairs, and place settings can be rented per guest with delivery and setup included. Additional fees apply.

What are the house rules?

The Porch sits on a genuine working farm with animals, a pond, dry summer pasture, and a single access road. The rules exist to keep it safe, and every one of them is on the page before you book.

  • Alcohol-free. No alcohol on the premises, for guests, vendors, or toasts. Mocktail bars are popular here.
  • Amplified music ends at 10 pm. Acoustic music is welcome any time within your rental window.
  • No smoking anywhere on the property.
  • No open flame. Enclosed or flameless candles only, and no sparklers or fireworks.
  • Biodegradable petals only. No confetti, glitter, or rice, because animals graze here.
  • Nothing that damages the cedar. No nails or staples into the deck or rails; ties rather than fasteners for draping and florals.
  • 12 vehicles, firm. Roadside parking is not permitted.
  • No swimming in the pond, and children supervised near the water.
  • Haul out what you bring in. Normal cleanup is covered; the deposit is for anything beyond normal use.
  • Pets: ask first. We run a boarding kennel, but loose dogs and livestock are a bad mix.

You may hear the occasional dog from our boarding kennel, animals in the pasture, and light road noise from Highway 212 nearby. We schedule quiet hours around events wherever possible. If you want horses grazing beside your celebration and an honest countryside setting rather than a soundstage, this is your place.

Booking

How does booking work?

  1. Send an inquiry with your preferred date, guest count, and the kind of event. We reply within 24 hours with availability and a written quote that lists everything.
  2. Tour if you like. Tours are by appointment so we are never scheduling around another event.
  3. Hold the date. A signed agreement and the $300 refundable damage deposit secure it. Until both are in, the date stays open to other inquiries.
  4. Get the address. The exact address is shared once your date is confirmed. Before that: Boring, Oregon, about 30 minutes from Portland.
  5. Settle the details. The balance is typically due 14 days before your event. Weddings and events over 25 guests need a one-day event liability policy naming The Porch as additional insured, with the certificate sent at least 14 days before the date.

Location

Where is The Porch?

Boring, Oregon, in Clackamas County, about 30 minutes from Portland and roughly 2,000 feet from Highway 212. We serve couples and families from Damascus, Gresham, Happy Valley, Sandy, and across the Portland metro.

Most ceremonies happen on the pond dock or in the open pasture, with dinner on the deck as the string lights come up. The single best tip for this venue: plan the ceremony to end about 90 minutes before sunset. You get portraits in gold light, dinner as the lights come up, and dancing in the dark.
