After you send it

What happens next?

  1. Within 24 hours you get a reply with availability for your date and a written quote. The quote lists everything; the only variable is the add-ons you choose. If your date is taken and you are flexible, we suggest the closest open options.
  2. Tour by appointment. Ask for one in your inquiry. Tours are scheduled so we are never working around another event.
  3. Hold the date. We can hold a date informally for a short window while you decide, but a competing inquiry ends the hold. A signed agreement and the $300 refundable damage deposit are what secure it.
  4. Get the address. The exact address is shared once your date is confirmed. Until then: Boring, Oregon, about 30 minutes from Portland, and we can give you the general area for drive-time planning.
  5. Before the day. The balance is typically due 14 days before the event. Weddings and events over 25 guests send a certificate of event liability insurance, naming The Porch as additional insured, at least 14 days before the date.

What should you have ready?

  • A preferred date, and how flexible it is. Fridays and Sundays in June through September typically book three to six months out. Monday through Thursday and off-season dates often open up with four to six weeks notice, and short-notice bookings are one of the advantages of a small venue.
  • A guest count. The maximum is 50 seated. Vendors do not count as guests, but their vehicles count toward the 12-vehicle limit, and roadside parking is not permitted. A few over is sometimes workable; the cars are the harder limit.
  • The kind of event and how long you want. Most micro-weddings use the full day; showers and dinners fit comfortably in the four-hour block. Multi-day quotes are custom.
  • Where you picture the ceremony. Most couples use the pond dock or the open pasture, then move to the deck for dinner. We will walk you through the light at your ceremony time.
  • Any add-ons: decorating coordinator, photographer, portraits with the horses or goats, lavender field when in bloom, or tables and place settings priced per guest.
  • Anything we should know: guests with mobility needs (the deck is raised, with steps), a food truck, a pet, a tent for a shoulder-season date, or a caterer you have already picked. There is no kitchen on site, so your caterer works from the deck.
The quote

What is in the written quote?

One flat venue rate for up to 50 guests, then only what you add. Nothing is per head except tableware.

  • Venue rate: $900 for a full day on a Friday or Sunday, $700 Monday through Thursday, or the $400 four-hour minimum for showers, dinners, and graduation parties, with extra hours quoted above that.
  • Deposit: $300, refundable after the event if the property is left as you found it. There is no separate cleaning fee.
  • Add-ons you chose: decorating coordinator from $65 per hour, photographer from $475 for two hours, portrait sessions from $90, and tables, chairs, and place settings from $10.50 or $17 per person with delivery included.
  • Insurance note if your event is a wedding or over 25 guests: a one-day event liability policy naming The Porch as additional insured, usually $75 to $200 because you can skip liquor liability.
Before you write

What should you know first?

  • Closed Saturdays. Open Sunday through Friday, year-round. Friday and Sunday are the weekend rates.
  • Alcohol-free. No alcohol on the premises for guests, vendors, or toasts. Non-alcoholic cocktails are welcome and popular.
  • Outdoor only. There is no indoor backup space. For cool or wet season dates we will talk through tent and heater options before you book.
  • A working farm. Horses, goats, sheep, and chickens live here, we run a boarding kennel, and Highway 212 is occasionally audible. We would rather tell you now than have you find out at your ceremony.
  • One event per day. Your rental window includes setup and teardown, and the whole property is yours for it.
  • Your event, your responsibility. Renters assume responsibility for themselves, their guests, and their vendors during the rental. Full terms are in your rental agreement.
