For a Friday or Sunday in peak season, June through September, three to six months out is typical. Weekday dates and off-season months often open up with four to six weeks notice. If your date is flexible, tell us and we will suggest the closest open options.
Often yes, especially Monday through Thursday. Short-notice bookings are one of the advantages of a small venue. Ask and we will tell you honestly what is open.
The Porch does not host events on Saturdays. Friday and Sunday are our weekend rates.
A signed agreement and the $300 refundable damage deposit. Until both are in, the date stays open to other inquiries.
We can hold a date informally for a short window while you decide, but a competing inquiry ends the hold. Deposit is what secures it.
Yes. Tours are by appointment so we are not scheduling around another event. Ask for one in your inquiry.
The address is shared once your date is confirmed. Before that we can tell you we are in Boring, roughly 30 minutes from Portland, and give you the general area for drive-time planning.
No. One event has the whole property for the whole rental window.
Yes. Multi-day quotes are custom. Tell us the days you want and we will price it.
If we cancel for any reason within our control, you receive a full refund of everything paid including the deposit, and we will help you find another venue.
One date change is usually workable if we have the new date open and you give reasonable notice. Ask as early as you know.
2026 introductory rates are $900 for a full day Friday or Sunday, $700 Monday through Thursday, and $400 minimum for a four-hour block for showers, dinners, and graduation parties. All rates cover up to 50 guests.
Parking for 12 vehicles, water, power, string lighting, shade, a serviced portable restroom, pond dock access, and your setup and teardown time within the rental window.
A minimum. It covers a four-hour block. Longer events are quoted above that.
$300, refundable after the event if the property is left in the condition it was found.
Standard practice is the balance due 14 days before your event. We will confirm the exact schedule in your agreement.
Not for the venue itself. Venue rates are flat up to 50 guests. Tableware rentals are priced per person.
No. Your quote lists everything. The only variable is add-on services you choose.
Card and electronic payment. Details come with your agreement.
No separate cleaning fee. Normal cleanup is covered. The damage deposit exists for anything beyond normal use.
For weddings and larger gatherings we recommend a one-day event liability policy, typically $100 to $200 through providers like WedSafe or Eventsured. We will tell you in your quote if it is required for your event type.
Cancellation terms are in your agreement. Generally the deposit is refundable up to a defined window before the event and non-refundable after. Ask us for the exact terms before you sign.
The weekday rate is the discount. Current pricing is already introductory and will rise as the calendar fills.
About 1,300 square feet of open-air deck, covered and strung with cafe lights.
Up to 50 seated. That number is a comfort limit, not a fire-code maximum, so 50 actually feels like 50 rather than a crowd.
The deck is open-air with draped canopy sections and mature tree cover. It is not a fully enclosed structure.
Yes. Power is available for caterers, music, coffee urns, and lighting.
Yes, potable water is on site.
A clean portable restroom, serviced before every event. There is no permanent indoor restroom available to guests.
The deck is raised with steps. Tell us in your inquiry if you have guests with mobility needs and we will discuss access options with you honestly before you book.
Yes. Dock access is included, and it is the best light on the property at sunset. Swimming is not permitted.
No dedicated indoor suite. Most couples arrive ready or use a nearby hotel or Airbnb. Ask us for local suggestions.
Most couples use the pond dock or the open pasture, then move to the deck for dinner. Both work; we will walk you through the light at your ceremony time.
No. The Porch is an outdoor venue. For cool or wet season dates we will talk through tent and heater options with you before booking.
Steps away. Parking for 12 vehicles is right at the venue.
50 guests.
Talk to us. A few over is sometimes workable depending on your layout and parking, but 12 vehicles is the harder limit.
12 vehicles. This is a firm constraint. Encourage carpooling or arrange a shuttle for larger groups.
No. Roadside parking is not permitted. Plan for the 12-vehicle limit.
Yes. The open pasture and the goats make this a good venue for families with kids. Children should be supervised near the pond.
Ask us. We run a boarding kennel and are dog people, but loose dogs and livestock are a bad mix, so it depends on your setup.
No. Caterers, photographers, and coordinators do not count as guests, but their vehicles do count toward the 12.
Guests should arrive within your rental window. Your setup time is for you and your vendors, not early guests.
No. Bring the caterer you want, or self-cater.
Yes. Many family dinners and showers here are potluck or self-catered. Power and water are available.
No commercial kitchen on site. Caterers work from the deck and their own equipment. Tell your caterer that in advance.
Yes, with advance notice so we can plan access and parking. The truck counts toward vehicle limits.
No. The Porch is an alcohol-free venue. This applies to guests, vendors, and toasts.
It is a working farm with animals, a pond, and a single access road. Alcohol-free keeps it safe and keeps our insurance and our neighbors comfortable.
Absolutely, and they photograph beautifully in the glassware. Mocktail bars are popular here.
Along the deck rail is the standard setup and it works well in the golden-hour light.
Bring bags and haul out what you bring in. We will show you where to stage it.
Yes. Bring your own or work with a bakery. We can include a dessert table in your setup.
Yes, within your rental window. Nothing that damages the cedar, no nails or staples into the deck or rails.
Yes, from $65 per hour. Figure about 1.5 hours per 10 guests, so roughly $98 for 10 people and about $475 for 50.
Sets tables, hangs drapes, stages centerpieces and signage, and clears at the end so you are not doing it in your good clothes.
Yes, priced per person with delivery and setup included. Seating only starts at $10.50 per person; full place settings start at $17.
Charger, dinner plate, salad plate, two glasses, three-piece flatware, linen napkin, and table linen.
Yes. Plenty of people bring their own or rent elsewhere.
Enclosed or flameless only. Open flame is not permitted on a dry-grass property in summer.
Light draping and florals, yes, using ties rather than fasteners. Ask before anything heavy.
Biodegradable petals only. No confetti, glitter, or rice, since animals graze here.
No. Dry pasture and livestock make this a firm no.
Yes, from $475 for two hours, $180 for each additional hour. Someone who already knows the light here.
Yes, always. There is no required vendor list.
The hour before sunset. The pasture goes gold and the string lights come up at the same time. Plan your portraits around it and tell your photographer.
Yes, from $90 per session. Our horses are gentle and used to people.
Yes, same $90 session rate. Better with kids than any posed backdrop.
Yes, and portraits there are available when it is in bloom, typically early summer. Ask about timing when you inquire since bloom shifts year to year.
The covered deck and the tree line hold up well in soft grey light, which is flattering for portraits.
Yes. Ask about a short session rate when you book your date.
Yes, Sunday through Friday, closed Saturdays.
June through September is the reliable dry stretch in the Willamette Valley. Late September evenings are the most beautiful and the least booked.
The Porch is an outdoor venue with no indoor backup. For shoulder-season and winter dates we strongly recommend budgeting for a tent, and we will discuss it with you before you book.
Yes, through a Portland-area rental company. We will tell you what fits the space and coordinate access for delivery.
Not included. Patio heaters are available through rental companies for cool-season dates. Ask and we will size it for you.
Willamette Valley summer afternoons commonly reach the upper 80s and can top 95. Evening events starting after 5 pm are more comfortable and photograph better.
Late August and early September occasionally bring smoke to the region. It is unpredictable and not grounds for a venue refund, so consider event insurance for peak-smoke-season dates.
Sunset ranges from about 4:30 pm in December to about 9 pm in late June. The string lights carry the deck after dark year-round.
For weddings and events over 25 guests, yes. Smaller gatherings like family dinners and showers do not require it, though it is never a bad idea.
Our policy covers our actions as the property owner. It does not cover you or your guests. If a guest is injured or something is damaged during your event, your policy is what responds. This is standard at nearly every event venue.
Most one-day policies run $75 to $200. Because The Porch is alcohol-free, you can skip liquor liability coverage, which is usually the most expensive add-on. That keeps your cost at the low end.
A one-day special event liability policy with limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, listing The Porch as additional insured, with coverage dates that include your setup and teardown, not just the event hours.
The Event Helper, GEICO Event Insurance, WedSafe, and Markel all sell online in under 30 minutes and email the certificate immediately. We do not receive anything from these companies; they are simply the ones our clients use.
At least 14 days before your event. Send it to us by email and we will confirm receipt.
The renter is. Booking The Porch means assuming responsibility for yourself, your guests, and your vendors for the duration of the rental. This is why event liability insurance is required for weddings and larger gatherings, and why we ask you to brief your guests on the farm conditions.
Livestock, uneven ground, a pond, a raised deck with stairs, and agricultural equipment on the property. None of it is unusual for a farm, and all of it is worth telling your guests about, especially anyone bringing small children.
No. The Porch is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property, gifts, decor, or equipment brought onto the premises, before, during, or after your event. Assign someone to gather valuables at the end of the night.
That it is a working farm with animals, a pond, and a raised deck, and that children should be supervised near all three. A line on your invitation or website is enough.
Amplified music ends at 10 pm. Acoustic music is fine any time within your rental window.
Yes, within the 10 pm amplified cutoff and the power available on the deck.
No smoking on the property. Dry grass and livestock.
Do not plan on venue Wi-Fi. Cell service is generally usable. Tell vendors who need connectivity to bring a hotspot.
Sometimes. We are roughly 2,000 feet from Highway 212 and traffic is occasionally audible. We are upfront about this so nobody is surprised on the day.
Possibly. We operate a boarding kennel on the property. We schedule quiet periods around events where we can, but this is a working farm and we would rather tell you now than have you find out at your ceremony.
Yes, horses, goats, sheep, and chickens. They are part of what makes the place, and they are also the honest tradeoff of a real farm setting.
It is outdoors in Oregon. Summer evenings are generally mild, but citronella and a few bug-spray stations are worth planning for.
Amplified sound off at 10 pm, and we ask that guests keep it neighborly on arrival and departure. This is a rural road.
Take out what you brought in, remove your decor, and leave the deck as you found it. The coordinator add-on covers this if you would rather not.
Lock the date and the guest count first. Everything else, catering, decor, timeline, is easier once those two are fixed.
For a full-day booking: two to three hours setup, ceremony, one hour cocktails and portraits, two hours dinner, then dancing until the 10 pm cutoff. We will help you shape it.
Roughly 1.5 hours per 10 guests for full table service. Fewer decor elements means less.
Photographers and caterers book earliest, often six to nine months out for peak Saturdays. Since we are Friday, Sunday, and weekday only, you generally have more vendor availability than a typical Saturday couple.
For 50 guests in the Portland area, a realistic all-in range is $8,000 to $18,000 depending on catering and photography. Portland photographers commonly run $3,000 to $7,000 for full-day coverage, and day-of coordinators quote $1,400 and up. Our venue rate is deliberately below the regional average to leave room in your budget.
For 50 guests, usually not. A decorating coordinator for setup and teardown covers most of what you would want on the day, at a fraction of a full planner's fee.
Most micro-weddings use the full day. Showers and dinners fit comfortably in four hours.
Underestimating setup time and scheduling the ceremony too early to catch good light. Both are fixable if you plan backward from sunset.
Yes. Send us your rough plan and we will tell you where the light is and where the pinch points are.
Plan your ceremony to end about 90 minutes before sunset. You get portraits in gold light, dinner as the lights come up, and dancing in the dark. It is the whole reason this place works.
Ask it directly. We answer within 24 hours.
